Tom’s unique events and donations featured by UPPAA
The Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association (UPPAA) shared Tom’s Bring One Home book events and donations in their Spring 2026 Newsletter.
“The best promotion is word of mouth, and sometimes you need to create those moments to get folks talking about your book,” Tom says. Some ways he’s done exactly that:
The 9th grade English and Social Studies classes at Bessemer high school started their lesson using his book, Bring One Home.
He was honored before his high school’s basketball game, where he spoke and donated $500 each to literacy in the
Bessemer schools and the athletic booster club.
He paid for 120 meals for seniors citizens at the Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Association Senior Center in Bessemer.
He donated $600 for a children’s summer reading program.
He held a local book signing and donated $540 to the Ironwood Michigan Carnegie Library.
Tom says he’s been blessed to donate over $8,600 from sales of his book to local libraries and schools in just 5 months.
